Kraton Polymers LLC (Kraton), a leading global producer of engineered
polymers, will present its latest innovations for meeting the cost and
performance challenges facing today´s roads
industry at the 4th Euroasphalt & Eurobitume
Congress from 21-23 May 2008 in Copenhagen (Booth 56/58/60).
The world´s leading supplier of
styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) block copolymers for bitumen
modification will demonstrate first-time opportunities for road owners
to use SBS base course modification to reduce both the cost and the
environmental impact of paving construction while improving the overall
quality of the asphalt pavement.
This technological step-change in base course performance, researched in
conjunction with Delft University of Technology, features alongside
further efficiency-related innovations. These include proprietary Kraton
D1192 with its improved bitumen compatibility and lower binder
viscosity. Kraton D1192 enables long term, high-performance asphalt
pavement to be achieved using lower quality bitumen, and the production
of bitumen emulsions with exceptional properties and performance for
fast maintenance turnaround in heavily-trafficked areas.
Stephen Evans, Vice President Paving and Roofing at Kraton Polymers
comments: "High crude oil prices, reduced
bitumen quality and consistency, and meeting environmental requirements
such as reduced energy use and more recycling are difficult challenges
facing today´s roads industry. As the
innovator in our field we invest in developing products and technologies
that make a difference across the whole paving industry. Our latest
research into SBS base course modification is testament to this and we
are looking forward to exploring the potential of this advance with
visitors to the E&E Congress."

About Kraton
Kraton is a leading global performance polymer company and is the world´s
largest producer of styrenic block copolymers (SBCs), a family of
products whose chemistry was pioneered by Kraton more than forty years
ago. SBCs are highly-engineered thermoplastic elastomers, which enhance
the performance of numerous products by delivering a variety of
attributes, including: greater flexibility, resilience, strength
durability and processability. Kraton polymers are used in a wide range
of applications including adhesives, coatings, consumer and personal
care products, sealants, lubricants, medical, packaging, automotive
paving, roofing, and footwear products. Kraton has the leading position
in nearly all of its core markets and is the only producer of SBCs with
global manufacturing capability. Its production facilities are located
in the United States, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Brazil, and
