World Films, Inc., a California-based production company that´s
re-defining the action-drama genre, announced today the signing of a
major international distribution deal with Boll AG for their latest
thriller, The Butcher. Boll AG beat-out six top distributors to
win the rights, testament to the film´s
exceptional production quality and mass cross-cultural box-office appeal.
Headquartered in Germany, Boll AG is led by legendary German filmmaker
Dr. Uwe Boll, who discovered The Butcher himself while attending
the film´s world premiere at the Cinema City
International Film Festival (CCIF) in Los Angeles, September 2007. The
Butcher was nominated for the prestigious CCIF "Best
Picture" award, kicking off a successful
coast-to-coast film festival run, broadening the film´s
popularity with fans and the Hollywood cognoscenti.
A major international distributor with ties to Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Paramount and Metrodome UK, Boll AG has released such
celebrated films as In the Name of the King (Jason Stratham, Ray
Liotta, Burt Reynolds), Alone in the Dark (Christian Slater, Tara
Reid) and Bloodrayne (Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen).

The Butcher is a tale of a washed up ex-prize fighter
turned mob enforcer, Merle Hench, who after a 20-year string of bad luck
has 48 golden hours. The film stars Eric Roberts, a twice Academy
Award-nominated actor "“ Runaway Train (1985) and The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984). Written and
directed by Jesse Johnson, The Butcher features Finnish actress
Irina Bjorklund, Keith David (Crash, Armageddon, Something About Mary)
Michael Ironside (The Perfect Storm, Starship Troopers, Total Recall)
and co-stars Robert Davi (License to Kill, Die Hard, The
Goonies).
The Butcher´s European premiere will
be celebrated at Cannes during the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.
