Harvard Business School to Address Global Economic Issues in New London-Based Executive Education Program

Harvard Business School (HBS) announces a new program to be hosted in London, England. Navigating the New Global Economy will be held from December 3-6, 2013 at the Four Seasons Hampshire. As global markets rebalance after recent economic crises in both the United States and Europe, this three-day program will provide an in-depth overview of the macroeconomic climate facing international business decision-makers.

Navigating the New Global Economy will cover the essential elements that characterize a number of important economies, including currency fundamentals, fiscal and monetary policy, trade, governance and political issues. The course will work with participating executives to analyze the relationships between these factors which will help them to be better informed in analyzing the possible evolution of certain markets and in planning their international investment strategies.

“The wealth of many Harvard Business School Executive Education programs lies in the rich diversity of backgrounds and experiences of participating executives,” said Das Narayandas, Senior Associate Dean and Chair of Executive Education and Publishing. “By hosting Navigating the New Global Economy in London, we’re hoping to make the course accessible to an even broader range of global participants; bringing the HBS experience to Europe and exploring how economies around the globe are attempting to remain profitable, competitive and sustainable.”

The course will examine how the global macro rebalancing following the recent financial crisis, together with local political developments and social factors are likely to drive economic change. Navigating the New Global Economy will feature case studies focused on lessons that can be learned from recent trends in established economies, like the U.S., Europe and China; rapidly emerging global competitors, like Brazil, Russia and Turkey; and newer markets, including India, Nigeria and Egypt.

Navigating the New Global Economy will be led by HBS faculty, including Professor of Management Practice Dante Roscini and Assistant Professor of Business Administration Catherine S.M. Duggan.

"The idea of the course is to allow participants to step away from their day-to-day duties and to bring them a proven framework on how to think about some of these interconnecting global issues," said Dante Roscini, L. E. Simmons Faculty Fellow and faculty chair of Navigating the New Global Economy. "With Navigating the New Global Economy, we´re excited to analyze the big pieces of the global economic puzzle and put them all together."

Through discussion, lectures and case studies, Navigating the New Global Economy offers participants a thoroughly enriching experience that will broaden their understanding of the larger issues shaping current and future market trends. As the first ever HBS program held in London, Navigating the New Global Economy looks forward to gathering a global class of executives to interpret the current economic landscape impacting their businesses, wherever they may be around the world.
