4, 5 and 6 in La Baule

Brainpower, making Europe more attractive and competitive
The presentations and debates of the 6th World
Investment Conference will revolve around the identification, analysis
and promotion of the innovative capabilities vested in Europe´s
industrial and service sectors.
The participants will try to understand why the materialization of an
idea, concept, or process into a high value-added product or service has
not found a market through profitable and viable industrial application.
This analytical approach, reinforced by the findings of the Ernst &
Young European Attractiveness Survey, will allow for better
determination of the stakes, on a global level, while putting in
perspective the means for brainpower to boost growth.
WIC 2008 will also host 3 related conferences:
1st Transatlantic Green Platform: June 5, 2008This platform
for transatlantic dialogue emerged out of the WIC 2007 debates to
reinforce the cooperation, partnership, and dynamics of research
innovation, and business opportunities between main actors in
environmental technologies. With the impetus of the European Union
and two American states, California and Texas, the platform will bring
together some 150 experts to discuss: "How to
develop R&D that favours renewable energies?" The major European energy groups responded to the call and some 50
de legates from Texas and California will take part in the delegation
coordinated by the University of Sacramento.
2nd California Technology Showcase: June 5, 2008A year
after the first edition that was held in 2007, bringing together 36
high-tech businesses from Silicon Valley, more than half have to this
day solidified their presence in the European market. In 2008, organizers
of the CTS have already recruited 50 new Californian technological
jewels in search of European partners. The objective of this
initiative is to demonstrate Europe´s ability
to attract businesses with high added tech value, from California today
but as of next year, also convince Japanese, Indian, Chinese and Korean
start-ups that Europe has become a marketplace for global innovation
thanks to high consumption of technology.
3rd Euromed Investment Conference: June 5, 2008For the
third consecutive year, the "Euromed
Investment Conference" will reinforce
Euro- Mediterranean investment partnerships. This year the debates will
revolve around the major investment-driving projects. Sovereign wealth
funds from the Gulf have been invited to EIC for the first time. The
3rd EIC conference will represent an important step in the Barcelona
process, just 5 weeks before the European Heads of State meet, and
at which the project for a Mediterranean Union, carried by the French
Presidency of the EU, will be presented.

The Europe+ Foundation is an independent platform that supplies
analytical tools and governance guidance to promote the attractiveness
and competitiveness of the European Union, its Member States and
