Expand Networks, www.expand.com, a
leading provider of application acceleration solutions over the wide
area network (WAN), and recently positioned in the Gartner´s
Leaders Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers 2007, today released a
statement based on the acquisition of Packeteer by Blue Coat Systems
Inc. earlier this week.
"This announcement may have a significant
impact on Packeteer´s existing channel
customers and their prospective end-users," said Elie Barr, CEO, Expand Networks. "One
outcome is likely to be around channel consolidation and/or realignment.
In regards to their current end-users, a likely impact will be around
migration paths and product end-of-life activity. Finally, given
Packeteer´s past WAN optimization technology
acquisitions, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for
the existing iShaper and Tacit Network devices if and when they are
integrated into Blue Coat´s product platform
and whether that integration comes at the cost of functionality."
