Luminetx Corp. today announced it has shipped its first
VeinViewer(GS) units overseas, officially marking the company´s
entrance into the international marketplace. The "GS" unit, standing
for "Global Standard," was specifically designed to meet the rigorous
quality requirements for the international marketplace.
This development comes only a few weeks after Luminetx signed its
first international distribution contracts for its signature product
the VeinViewer by Luminetx(R), with Pacific Medical, Inc., Sanitas and
The Golden Triangle Organization.
The VeinViewer is a vascular imaging system that allows
physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to clearly see
accessible vasculature (or lack thereof) in real time. The device uses
a combination of near-infrared light and patented technologies to
image vascular structures and projects their location directly on the
surface of the skin. This provides clinicians with a safe
non-invasive adjunct technology for clinical treatments and procedures
including, but not limited to: IV insertions, PICC line insertions
routine venipuncture (blood sampling), blood and plasma donations and
treatment for varicose and spider veins.
"This is quite a significant milestone for our company and for
patients around the world," said Chris Schnee, vice president of
global marketing for Luminetx. "2008 will be heralded as a major year
of growth for Luminetx, especially in the international arena, and
we´re looking forward to doing all we can to ensure this technology
becomes a standard of care across the globe. As part of our global
expansion strategy, we expect to be in eight to 10 strategically
chosen international markets by the close of the year."
In December 2007, the VeinViewer technology received EC and ISO
13485:2003 certifications - thus allowing shipment to European
countries and continuing the expansion of the Luminetx global
strategy. The new generation of the VeinViewer meeting these European
quality certifications is known as the VeinViewer(GS) model. This GS
model will be offered to both international and domestic clients as
Luminetx´s flagship product.
Per Rodney Schutt, COO of Luminetx, "What´s important for our
global clients to know is that the Luminetx mission to bring ´a better
way´ to venous access respects that every region and culture has
different needs. Through choosing highly respected and proven partners
around the world to represent our company, we ensure that the benefit
of VeinViewer is brought to patients with unwavering commitment to
bettering their care."
