UK´s CEGA Air Ambulance Implements Physio-Control Emergency Medical Response Technology

CEGA Air Ambulance (CEGA), a leading international emergency assistance provider, and Physio-Control, Inc., a leading provider of emergency medical response solutions worldwide, today announced that CEGA has selected the Physio-Control LIFEPAK 15 monitor/defibrillator for use aboard its fixed wing air ambulance fleet. CEGA selected the 15 for its advanced monitoring parameters, clinical capabilities and ease-of-use during critical care transfers.

"The LIFEPAK 15 is a complete intensive care unit facilitating the highest level of patient care and meets all our needs for fixed wing air ambulances," said Stuart Cox, chief flight nurse, CEGA. "Previously we used the LIFEPAK 12, enabling us to make a swift transition to the 15 with minimal training. And the new dual mode LCD screen´s capability to switch from color to monochrome makes the display easy to view at altitudes greater than 30,000 ft. and during take-off and landing."

With a user interface similar to the LIFEPAK 12, the 15 reduces customer transition costs and minimizes overall training resources. In addition to providing the broadest selection of monitoring options available, the 15 offers energy dosing up to 360 joules for difficult to defibrillate patients.

"Air medical crews face a unique set of challenges, requiring a device with extensive clinical capabilities," said Mathieu Badard, vice president & general manager of Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Physio-Control. "The LIFEPAK 15´s wide array of monitoring parameters enables care teams to treat a variety of cardiorespiratory conditions they might encounter inflight and help get patients safely to their destination."
