Bed Bath gives weak outlook; shares fall

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Bed Bath & Beyond Inc gave a weaker-than-expected profit outlook for the current quarter, sending the U.S. home goods chain's shares down about 10 percent.

The company sees earnings of about 97 cents a share to $1.03 a share in the fiscal second quarter. Analysts on average were looking for a profit of $1.08 a share in the period.

Bed Bath did not give a reason for the soft outlook in a statement on Wednesday, but said it will shed more light during a conference call later this evening.
