Pixwoo, a cutting-edge new social networking platform designed specifically for video game players, today went live in the United States at www.pixwoo.com. The site offers a venue for both casual and hardcore gamers to interact and share in their favorite passions. By also welcoming game industry professionals, Pixwoo provides the ultimate social networking destination targeting those who enjoy all things video games.
Following previous launches in France and the UK, today´s U.S. launch is a major milestone in Pixwoo´s international expansion. The site is set to launch in Germany, Japan and South Korea in the coming months.
"Pixwoo was created to provide a platform for all types of gamers and industry members to connect and communicate with one another," said Pascal Vielhescaze, CEO and founder of Pixwoo. "The world of video games is such a rich and content-filled one. The video game world has expanded beyond people who play video games and has infiltrated pop culture and lifestyles in general. We wanted to create a dedicated social networking space for everyone interested in video games to come together and share their passion. We want everyone in the industry asking each other: "˜Do you Pixwoo?´"
Launched in beta in March 2011 in France and the UK, Pixwoo combines popular features from traditional social networks to create the ultimate destination for video gamers. Users have the ability to create a profile as well as identify their own "Pixwoo DNA" - a measure of what kind of gamer they are - that allows the site to suggest new games and groups based on their interests. They can also follow their favorite games, companies and personalities; join groups; and find and connect with new friends. By following games and joining groups, users can stay up to date on all gaming news, post news items that interest them, and truly create an online hub for everything in their lives related to video games.
Pixwoo also offers exclusive features for industry professionals. Video game publishers, developers, publicists, music composers and more, can create their own professional page from which they can take polls, post events and jobs, and enroll followers in their newsletter distributions.
"In addition to being the destination online for gamers, we welcome all types of industry professionals and provide specific benefits they can leverage," said Vielhescaze. "After creating a general professional page for their company on the site, for example, they can take it a step further and become a Pixwoo partner. This allows them to connect all of the pages of the games that their company publishes to their company page, and directly communicate with all of their fans in one place. They also have the ability to create and manage pages for characters from their video games, in order to interact with fans as the video game character itself."
Pixwoo currently boasts more than 8,000 members, 2,500 game pages and 300 groups, as well as partnerships with various publishers in Europe including Sega, Ubisoft and Namco Bandai. For more information and to sign up to begin connecting with your gamer friends, please go to: www.pixwoo.com.
Pixwoo will be attending the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), where it will make Vielhescaze available for interviews. Pixwoo will be located in the Concourse Hall. Contact Stephanie_Thoensen@bhimpact.com for an appointment or additional information.
