The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and ACC Europe
announced that it had reached the 1000th member mark in Europe, a
significant milestone for ACC Europe, and another sign of the
continued growth for this 23,000 member global organization. ACC
Europe acknowledged Royal DSM N.V. ("Royal DSM" or "DSM") and its
General Counsel, Pieter de Haan, for putting them over the 1000 member
mark and looked forward to having members from DSM´s legal department
join and contribute to its global association.
In recent years, ACC Europe has seen a significant growth in
membership, as the in-house profession grows in stature and
recognition. Now with over 1000 members, ACC Europe´s momentum propels
ACC ahead as the leading association for the in-house profession in
Europe.
When told of ACC Europe´s latest achievement, de Haan noted that
he was "proud and happy that the addition of his legal team
contributed to this significant milestone for ACC Europe!" He added
that, "The vast array of ACC Europe´s resources and events have proven
to be very useful to me and now other members of (my) legal department
will benefit from the added insight, as well."
"We are delighted to have Royal DSM involved with the association
and it is quite fitting that a global company, headquartered in Europe
and with offices throughout Asia, the Americas, Africa and Australia,
takes ACC Europe through the 1000 member mark," explained Tony Wales,
Senior Vice President & General Counsel for AOL International and ACC
Europe´s President.
ACC President Frederick J. Krebs joins Wales in acknowledging DSM
and adds that, "The increase in membership reflects the increased
importance, sophistication, and influence of the in-house counsel
community worldwide and speaks to the credibility and legitimacy ACC
represents to the in-house profession globally," said Krebs.
Serving the professional needs of attorneys and others who
practice in the legal departments of corporations and other
organizations worldwide, ACC promotes the common interests of its
members, contributing to their continuing education, and providing a
voice on issues of international importance. With over 23,000 members
in 75 countries, employed by over 10,000 organizations, ACC Europe´s
affiliation with this global community connects its members to the
people and resources necessary for both personal and professional
growth. ACC Europe serves in-house attorneys in Europe through
networking, knowledge sharing, continuing legal education and advocacy
on behalf of the in-house profession. ACC Europe´s membership accounts
for in-house counsel professionals across Europe. By in-house counsel,
