OmniPay, the global payments processor, today announced that it has won two of the leading awards at the 2012 Merchant Payments Ecosystem (MPE) gala awards ceremony, held in Berlin. These are the principal awards for the European payments industry and the event was attended by all of Europe´s leading payment institutions, merchants and acquiring banks.
OmniPay won the headlining "˜Best Processor´ award as recognition for its pioneering processing solutions which are making a huge difference to the European and global payments industry. It has built and manages a single global transactions platform which currently provides payment services for 28 of the world´s leading acquiring banks and global payments processors, as well as 5.4 million merchants trading in 73 countries across 158 currencies.
OmniPay now proactively manages more than 1.1 billion transactions representing a total value of more than €55bn worth of cards and electronic payments. All transactions are monitored 24x7 by a team of 160 global payments experts at OmniPay´s head office in Dublin, Ireland. OmniPay´s clients include HSBC Merchant Services, Equens and PayPal.
Another major honour for OmniPay at this year´s awards is the "˜Acquirer Personality of the Year´ which was presented to Hubert O´Donoghue, CEO and co-founder of OmniPay. Hubert was nominated by PayPal for his outstanding contribution to the European payments industry. His commitment to innovation and building the world´s only single global processing platform was central to this industry recognition. In addition, Hubert plays a leading advisory role for the implementation of the European Payment Services Directive*, which is laying out the foundations for an EU-wide single market for payments. This aims to harmonise consumer protection and the rights of payment providers and users.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Hubert O´Donoghue, OmniPay, CEO, said, "While I´m honoured to be personally recognised by the industry, I am particularly excited that OmniPay has won the best European processor award. It´s a fantastic reflection on our pioneering technology and the deep payments expertise of our wonderful team in OmniPay. By operating the only truly global payments processing platform, OmniPay is delivering a world class solution that is more efficient and cost effective."
This year´s awards are not the first for OmniPay. It also won the European Card Acquiring Forum (predecessor to the MPE awards) "˜Processing Excellence´ award in 2010 and followed up last year by winning the 2011 ECAF "˜Performance´ award for the achievements in the area of chargeback processing.
OmniPay has enjoyed business and revenue growth every year since its establishment. In 2011, OmniPay opened new sales offices in Australia and the United States to facilitate further international growth.
