The Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), the voice of the global semiconductor industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Joep van Beurden and Steve Mollenkopf, respectively, as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the GSA Board of Directors through 2013.
Mr. van Beurden is CEO of CSR plc, a position he has held since November 2007. He has more than ten years of experience in managing technology companies in the US and Europe. Prior to his role at CSR plc, Mr. van Beurden was the CEO for NexWave Inc., and before that held a variety of senior positions at Canesta Inc. and Philips Components. Mr. van Beurden earned his master´s degree in Applied Physics from Twente University of Technology in Enschede, the Netherlands. Mr. van Beurden has served as the Vice Chairman for the GSA since December 2009.

Mr. Mollenkopf serves as president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, as well as a member of the company´s executive committee. He holds two electrical engineering degrees, including a BSEE from Virginia Tech and a MSEE from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Prior to being appointed vice chairman, he served as a North America regional leadership director for the GSA.

Dr. Nicky Lu, the Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2010-2011, will continue to serve as a regional leadership director for the board and as the Asia-Pacific Leadership Council chairman.
