The international law firm Sidley Austin LLP advised GEWOFAG
Gemeinnutzige Wohnungsfursorge Aktiengesellschaft Munich on the
refinancing of the acquisition costs for the purchase of shares in
Heimag Munchen Gemeinnutzige Heimstatten-Aktiengesellschaft. The
purpose of the restructuring was to design the refinancing (with the
participation of Heimag and co-shareholder GWG Gesellschaft fur
Wohnungs- und Gewerbebau Baden-Wurttemberg AG in Stuttgart) to avoid
the fiscal limitation for building societies by means of EK02-taxation
so that a refinancing in the international capital markets would be
possible.
The Sidley team was led by Werner Geisselmeier (Tax), Dr. Georg
Rutzel (Corporate and antitrust law) and Dr. Jens Rinze (Finance).
