Through its ongoing contribution to greenhouse gas reduction, promotion of resource recycling and support of biodiversity throughout product lifecycles, PEW is today helping the environment by designing new eco-friendly products.

The global trend towards energy efficient products has led to increased demand for low power consumption PIR (Pyroelectric Infrared) sensors for use in applications such as lighting, security systems and HVAC. PIR sensors detect the thermal signature of people, and can be used to avoid unnecessary energy use.

PIR sensors made by Panasonic (PaPIRs) use Lithium Tantalate (LiTa03), and are lead (Pb) free under the terms of the European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive. Other PIR sensors use PZT (lead zirconate titanate) and do contain lead, though they are currently RoHS compliant under an exemption.

Panasonic´s PIR MOTION SENSOR "PaPIRs" are ideal for environmentally friendly products.
