Places for People Builds Spend Management Program with Ariba

Ariba, Inc. (Nasdaq:ARBA), the leading spend management solutions
provider, today announced that it has signed a new agreement with
Places for People, one of the United Kingdom´s largest property
management and development co-operatives, which comprises 58,625 homes
either owned or managed and a GBP 2.5 billion asset base. Under the
terms of the agreement, Places for People will leverage Ariba(R)
Procure-To-Pay(TM) On-Demand Professional to gain better visibility
into and control of its spend.

"At Places for People, our mission is to develop high-quality
communities that are sustainable, safe and cost-effective. In order to
do this, we must diligently control our spending," said David Turner,
Places for People´s Group Head of Purchasing. "With Ariba, we have
access to technology and best practices that enable us to automate and
enhance our procurement process from the moment we source and place
orders for goods and services to the time we receive invoices and pay
for them. Using these tools, we can increase our efficiencies, lower
our costs and gain a clear view into our spending so that we can make
the most optimal decisions for our business going forward."

Designed to ensure that savings identified through sourcing
actually reach the bottom line, Ariba Procure-To-Pay combines the
functionality of Ariba Buyer(TM), Ariba Invoice(TM), Ariba
Settlement(TM) and Ariba Analysis(TM) in a single, integrated
solution. Embedded with the knowledge and best practices that Ariba
and its customers have developed over the last decade, Ariba
Procure-To-Pay enables companies to manage more spend more efficiently
than ever before. Delivered on demand, the solution can be rolled out
in just a few weeks to not only buyers, but anyone in the company who
needs to buy goods and services, enabling companies to quickly and
cost effectively close the procurement loop and realize returns on
their investment.

Ariba´s spend management solutions support Places for People´s
strategy of delivering neighborhoods of choice and will help Places
for People deliver savings, improve compliance and cut procurement
process times.

Places for People will use Ariba Procure-To-Pay to create a
catalogue of goods and services offered by preferred suppliers and
manage the process of securing items from orders through invoicing and
payment. "With Ariba´s solutions we can completely automate our
procurement process and drive savings and efficiencies that positively
impact our bottom line," Turner added.

"Places for People understands that achieving excellence in spend
management requires a commitment to transforming the procurement
process from end to end," said Mike Arenth, General Manager, EMEA,
Ariba. "In selecting Ariba Procure-to-Pay as its spend management
platform, Places for People has taken the first step in this journey,
and we look forward to providing them with technology, expertise and
services that will enable them to achieve their goals."
