Wavecom S.A. (Paris:AVM) (NASDAQ:WVCM) (ISIN:FR0000073066) today
announced the launch of its new partnership program with two
educational institutions in Singapore and Vietnam.
Institutions of higher learning have always been the birthplace of
new ideas, new methods - in short innovations. As a technology leader
in the area of wireless communication between machines, Wavecom has
reinforced its partnerships with the academic community by
inaugurating a new partnership program with two engineering schools:
-- Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore, founded in 1963, is one of
the premier institutions of higher learning. It comprises 8
academic schools that have very close ties to industry. The
diploma in Engineering Informatics offered by the
Multidiscipline Engineering Division of the School of
Engineering prepares students for a career to design, develop,
maintain and integrate IT-based applications and information
systems.
-- The University of Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is
the leading university for teaching and research activities in
Vietnam. The faculty of the Electrical and Electronics
Engineering school has made significant contributions to
satisfying the requirements of engineers for the
industrialization and modernization in Vietnam since its
founding in 1957;
The Wavecom Worldwide Educational Partnership Program will include
courses that teach the fundamentals of using Wavecom´s Open AT(R)
Software Suite. Final year engineering students will have the
opportunity to work with leading-edge Wavecom technology with tools
provided by Wavecom.
The new formalized program is a natural progression of the
educational programs begun in 2005 with the Petroleum University of
China where a professor has published a user´s guide for Wavecom´s
Open AT(R) Software Suite. And, earlier this year, Wavecom provided
technology and support to senior design students at North Carolina
State University for the development of their final projects using
Open AT(R) Software Suite. NC State University College of Engineering
is ranked among the top twenty engineering schools in the U.S.
according to U.S. News and World Reports.
The first group of participating engineering schools was selected
on a basis of their interest in furthering the development of future
technologies and a keen interest in working with private industry. The
program is expected to be expanded in 2008 to add educational partners
worldwide including North America and Europe Middle East and Africa.
Wavecom CTO, Philippe Guillemette commented, "this exciting
educational partnership program is aimed at reaching out to young
developers who will be the creators of communicating machines of the
future. This type of program will help us in reinforcing the Open
AT(R) Software Suite as the standard platform for new generations of
smart machines."
