(Reuters) - Daimler Trucks North America, a unit of German auto giant Daimler AG , said it will hire over 1,230 employees as it plans to increase production to accommodate rising customer demand for its Freightliner and Western Star trucks.
DAIMLER <:DCX.XE:>Trucks said it plans to increase production at its plants in Mount Holly in North Carolina, Portland in Oregon, and also at Saltillo plant in Mexico.
In addition, over 120 shop and staff employees will be added at the company's Gastonia, North Carolina, parts manufacturing plant, it said in a statement.
The hiring plans are in addition to the more than 1,300 positions filled in the company's truck and parts facilities during the first half of 2011, the company said. (Reporting by Bijoy Koyitty in Bangalore; Editing by Sriraj Kalluvila)
