Chesapeake natgas fracking well spills water in Pa.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A Chesapeake Energy natural gas drilling well is uncontrollably spilling thousands of gallons of salty water in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, the company and local emergency services said on Wednesday.

"At approximately 11:45 p.m. on April 19, an equipment failure occurred during well-completion activities, allowing the release of completion fluids from a well at a location in Leroy Township, Bradford County, Pa.," Chesapeake said in a statement.

Local authorities are concerned about the environmental impact of the spilling fluid, said Francis Roupp, deputy director of Bradford County emergency management agency.
