SES (Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) announces that the SIRIUS 4 satellite
of SES SIRIUS has been delivered to the Baikonour Cosmodrome for a
Proton launch in November 2007.
The shipment of the spacecraft follows the clearance to resume the
launch schedule of Proton by the Russian commission investigating the
launch failure of September 6, 2007. SES participated in the Failure
Review Oversight Board and was given full visibility of the
investigation findings.
The launch date for SIRIUS 4 has been set for November 18th, 2007.
This timetable is subject to confirmation following the success of the
Proton mission set for October 25th, 2007. On that mission Proton is
scheduled to loft three Russian Glonass navigation satellites.
SIRIUS 4 is a multi-mission Ku/Ka-band satellite to be deployed at
the orbital position of 5 degrees East. The spacecraft has been built
on Lockheed Martin's reliable A2100AX platform with the mission to
enhance SES SIRIUS' capacity at 5 degrees East and to further extend
coverage of Eastern Europe.
