MobiMate Ltd., a leading provider of travel services for mobile
devices, announced today the release of the free version of WorldMate
Professional for Symbian UIQ and Windows Mobile Standard smartphones,
providing on-the-go professionals with a superior, award-winning
resource at no charge. Serving as the 'Swiss Army Knife' for road
warriors facing the unpredictabilities of travel, WorldMate empowers
users with a mobile tool to combat challenges such as scheduling
conflicts and flight delays.
Recognized as the only cross-platform travel services provider,
WorldMate is the first mobile travel tool to offer a free service for
UIQ and Windows Mobile devices. These platforms are used in leading
vendors' phones including the Sony Ericsson P1 and P990, the MOTO Z8
and MOTO Q and the HTC Vox. WorldMate is a best-selling UIQ
application and continues its progress with the Freemium business
model.
WorldMate initially tested its Freemium pricing structure with its
launch of an application for the Nokia S60 platform. The business
model increased the company's revenues on this platform by several
hundred percent. As a result, WorldMate has expanded its customer base
while leveraging its thought and product leadership in the market
through continued product advancements.
"We strive to provide advanced travel services superior in
technological innovation, and apply the business models that will make
them appealing to road warriors who want to travel light," said Nadav
Gur, WorldMate CEO. "By providing free services and charging for
premium ones on a monthly basis, we are able to better leverage
demands from end-users and business partners. We are deploying these
pricing models across our product lines to encourage adoption of our
service by all types of business travelers."
According to statistics from the US Bureau of Transportation, more
than 27 percent of flights were delayed or cancelled in the US alone
during the first half of 2007. This statistic increases WorldMate's
value, making travel easier by providing comprehensive flight status
and flight schedule services as well as world clocks, clothing size
and currency converters. As a result, WorldMate saves harried
travelers time and money, especially during the hectic holiday travel
season.
WorldMate for the UIQ platform supports Sony Ericsson's M600,
P990, W950, P1 and W960 devices, as well as Motorola's MOTO Z8. Free
services include clocks, global weather, measurements, day / night
map, currency converter and clothing size converter. Additional
services offered for a paid subscription include flight status, flight
schedule, area codes and an interactive packing list for $6.95 a month
or $69.95 a year. The application for Windows Mobile smartphones
supports Motorola's MOTO Q and HTC Vox and features clocks, weather,
measurements, world map, currency converter and clothing size
converter at no cost to users. Premium-tier memberships are provided
at $3.95 a month or $39.95 a year, and include flight status and
