EU experts approve trace GM in feed imports: official

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - A European Union committee approved proposals on Tuesday to allow tiny amounts of unapproved genetically modified (GM) material in animal feed imports to the bloc, the European Commission said.

EU governments and lawmakers now have up to three months to either approve or reject the committee's decision, before the rules can be adopted formally by the EU executive as law.

The proposals would allow up to 0.1 percent of GM material approved in a producing coutry but not in Europe in imports of animal feed, but not in human food.
