Louisiana oil wells restarted after leak

HOUSTON (Reuters) - An operator has restarted oil wells shut in Louisiana coastal waters due to a leak in South Pass Block 11, a company spokesman said Friday.

Energy Partners Ltd of New Orleans shut the wells after a platform pipe leaked 1.1 gallons of crude into a land-locked marsh Thursday, the company spokesman said.

The wells shut totaled 200 or 300 barrels a day of light, sweet crude oil that sold into the Light Louisiana Sweet stream, the spokesman said.

"We had to shut in a few wells to isolate it, and by about 10 o'clock last night, we had a clamp on the leak and we reopened everything," the spokesman said.
