GT Solar International, Inc., one of the largest providers of
manufacturing equipment and "turnkey" manufacturing solutions to the
photovoltaic (PV) industry, announced today its wholly owned
subsidiary, GT Solar Incorporated, has received a $40,700,000 order
from Soltech, S.A. in Patras, Greece for a turnkey line of equipment
capable of making 30MW of solar wafers, cells and modules annually.
The equipment includes GT Solar's new DSS450 furnace, which
produces 400kg to 450kg silicon ingots, and also Atlas
tabber/stringers, which arrange rows of solar cells for placement in
solar modules.
GT Solar President and CEO, Thomas Zarrella, said: "This order
represents GT's first sale of an integrated factory, and underscores
GT's value as an enabler of companies that are interested in the solar
(PV) business. GT provides these companies with a turnkey line of
manufacturing equipment, technologies and solutions across the
photovoltaic supply chain."
