Indexes end up with consumer shares

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday, led by gains in consumer stocks after a sales forecast from discounter Target Corp temporarily quelled concerns about consumer demand.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> rose 9.16 points, or 0.09 percent, to end at 10,415.01. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 1.61 points, or 0.15 percent, at 1,094.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 6.26 points, or 0.28 percent, at 2,215.70.
