Wall Street trims losses after consumer data

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks regained some ground on Friday after consumer sentiment data fell in July to its lowest level in 9 months, though the reading showed a slight improvement from the beginning of the month.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> slipped 42.08 points, or 0.40 percent, to 10,425.08. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was off 4.51 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,097.02. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> fell 13.63 points, or 0.61 percent, to 2,238.06.
