Aeroports de Paris consortium (Pink Sheets:AEOPF) (Paris:ADP)
signed, on 19 May 2007, a contract for the concession for Queen Alia
International Airport in Amman (Jordan).
The Aeroports de Paris consortium is composed of Aeroports de
Paris Management, J&P (Cyprus) and J&P Avacs (Greece), as well as
investment funds ADIC (Abu Dhabi), NOOR (Kuwait) and EDGO (Jordan). It
was selected by the Jordanian Government further to a call for tender,
to run the concession of Queen Alia international airport in Amman
(Jordan) for a period of 25 years under a BOT (Build - Operate -
Transfer) type of contract.
The project will consist in building a new terminal of a total
surface area of around 100,000 sq.m for an amount of about US$ 500
million. The new terminal will be designed by English architect Foster
& Partners, and will be capable of handling 9 million passengers
against 3.5 million today. The project is meant to support the rapid
growth of the airport, which is the gateway to Jordan and the hub of
national airline Royal Jordanian, a member of One World Alliance.
The construction of the facilities will be carried out by the J&P
Group. Aeroports de Paris Management will run the airport throughout
the duration of the concession.
Aeroports de Paris Management (ADPM) was created in 1990 as a
subsidiary of the Aeroports de Paris Group. It is dedicated to the
management of airports and to the acquisition of shares in several
airport companies.
