TERADYNE DIAGNOSTIC SOLUTIONS has announced that it will be using
this May's Automotive Testing Expo Europe event as a platform for the
worldwide premiere of its latest product, an integrated tester named
the i-VIEW(TM) Ultra.
Teradyne is a global market leader in vehicle diagnostic and
information systems, testing a vehicle every second all over the
world. Its latest product launch for the production line will deliver
unrivalled speed, power and reliability.
On the modern production line, where a huge volume of data has to
be programmed and installed into a vehicle from an increasingly vast
file storage system, the system in the plant needs to select reliably
from these files and install them onto the correct model at the
correct time. The i-VIEW Ultra is an integrated tester that combines a
VCI (Vehicle Communications Interface) with a built-in PC, and
supports in-plant flash programming of multiple ECUs in parallel.
The wide viewing angle of the display allows the device to be used
in a number of ways by the operator, including mounted on the steering
wheel. The fully integrated wireless PC platform provides a completely
stand-alone solution or seamless integration into a networked plant
configuration.
In advance of Testing Expo, the full specification of the i-VIEW
Ultra has been kept under wraps, but Teradyne has revealed some early
details to indicate its confidence that the product will be unmatched
in performance, from the "better than military-spec" rugged housing
construction through to the maintenance-free cooling design and
battery free operation.
David Tunstall, Teradyne Business Unit Manager for the VCATS
(Vehicle Configuration And Test Systems) product group, describes the
new device:
"This device is the fastest and most powerful of its kind. It
features a large bandwidth for programming, parameterisation, testing
and diagnostic functionality on many concurrent systems at once, and
can operate as a stand-alone testing unit with its Windows XP platform
and touch-screen.
"It is based on Teradyne's latest generation hardware
architecture, which is why it bears Teradyne's familiar i-VIEW brand
name, and is upgrade-ready for future protocols."
Full technical specifications, product images and more information
will be available from the 8th May - the first day of Testing Expo -
and full press packs will be distributed at the show, as well as
regular product demonstrations at the Teradyne stand (hall 5, stand
5000).
