The Wings Club announces the 2007-2008 Club President, John S.
Slattery, Managing Director, RBS Aviation Capital. Mr. Slattery took
the reins from Joseph B. Leonard, Chairman & CEO of AirTran Airways,
at the Club's Annual Meeting on March 27, 2007.
Mr. Slattery has been active in The Wings Club since 1997, serving
on the Board of Governors since 2005, as Membership Chairman in
2005-2006 and as Vice President in 2006-2007.
In his address to the Club Officers and Board of Governors at the
Annual Meeting, Mr. Slattery stated, "It is truly an honor to take on
the role of President for The Wings Club, particularly this year as we
celebrate our 65th anniversary." He further declared his dedication to
continued development of the value-proposition for the Club's
membership; a renewed commitment of the Club's mandate to its
historical & educational responsibilities; and a prime focus on
establishing a greater international presence for the Club.
Before his current appointment at RBS Greenwich Capital as head of
the Bank's Aviation Capital business for the Americas, Mr. Slattery
held a number of senior level positions with the Royal Bank of
Scotland, including its RBS Aerospace business in Dublin, Ireland and
Managing Director at the bank's North American headquarters branch in
Manhattan, New York. Prior to joining the bank in 2001 Mr. Slattery
was a partner at International Aviation Management Group, a successful
boutique aerospace financial advisory firm that was acquired by RBS in
2001. As a community leader, Mr. Slattery is a director of ORBIS
International, a registered charity whose mandate is to eradicate
avoidable global blindness.
An Irish national, Mr. Slattery is a BA (Hons) graduate from the
Portobello College in Dublin and the University of Glamorgan in Wales.
He is also a Member of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing where
he received a diploma in professional studies and is an alumnus of
Harvard University's executive management development program.
The Wings Club, founded in 1942, is the premiere international
aviation club. Dedicated to preserve the history and traditions of
aviation, the Club provides a forum for discussion and debate on
aeronautical and aviation issues. The Wings Club serves nearly 1,200
members including industry leaders, pilots, professionals in related
service organizations and students of aviation.

advancement of aeronautical and aviation matters, The Wings Club

Club also hosts Aviation Leader Series Luncheons that feature keynote
speeches by industry leaders, as well as the Annual Dinner at The
Waldorf=Astoria in New York City. Celebrating the Club's 65th
anniversary, this year's Annual Dinner will take place on October 26,
2007.
