Wavecom (Paris:AVM) (NASDAQ:WVCM) (ISIN:FR0000073066) today
announced commercial availability of the Wavecom CM52 Wireless CPU(R).
Designed specifically for automotive applications, the CM52 operates
within an extended temperature range and has a rugged build for
extreme vibrations. In addition, the CM52 offers connection
flexibility with a choice of RF connectors. This product is fully
certified by the largest CDMA carrier in the U.S. and designed into
the telematics units of some of the world's premier automakers.
More importantly, the commercial release of the CM52 reinforces
Wavecom's commitment to CDMA technology adding a second rugged and
versatile CDMA product to the Wavecom Wireless CPU(R) portfolio. The
existing CDMA-based Wavecom Q2438 shares a form factor with the rest
of the Wavecom Q24 Wireless CPU(R) series which offers developers the
opportunity to make one design that operates on either cellular
standard. The Q2438 is fully compatible with gpsOne(R) and operates
within an extended temperature range for easy integration into a host
of applications, including automotive.
"We are committed to supporting the most pervasive standards
including both GSM and CDMA for our customers in both North and South
America," said Anders Franzen, President of Wavecom, Inc. He noted,
"And CDMA is rapidly gaining acceptance throughout many parts of Asia.
We understand that to remain the global leader, CDMA will continue to
be a critical part of our portfolio."
Both products support voice, 1xRTT packet data, SMS and circuit
switch data for the ultimate in application flexibility. Plus, they
come with an embedded TCP/IP stack to minimize licensing fees
associated with connectivity. And, like all Wavecom products, the CM52
and Q2438 are completely lead-free and RoHS compliant.
