CO2e.com LLC (CO2e), a leading climate change specialist and
Cantor Environmental Brokerage, one of the longest serving emissions
brokerages in the world, announced today that they are joining forces
to create CantorCO2e.
CantorCO2e has been formed as a leading global provider of
financial services to the world's environmental and energy markets,
offering finance, consultancy, technology and transaction services to
clients engaged in using energy and managing emissions across the
world.
The two businesses have come together to meet the challenge and
opportunity of increasing integration in the world's environmental and
energy markets. Global clients in the fast growing carbon trading and
biofuels markets which CantorCO2e will service, are demanding a
seamless approach from brokerages.
Cantor Environmental Brokerage, established by Carlton Bartels in
1992, was one of the first emissions brokerages in the world to create
liquidity in the fledgling environmental markets in the USA - the
world's first environmental markets. (Carlton was a visionary in
environmental issues who was sadly killed in 2001.) Josh Margolis
joined Carlton in 1995 and has been running Cantor Environmental
Brokerage's North American operations since then.
CO2e.com was formed in 2000 by Carlton and Steve Drummond to
address the prospect of global greenhouse gas emissions trading
created by the signature of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997. CO2e.com
rapidly formed a strong reputation world-wide as a leading broker and
adviser in greenhouse gas emissions trading. In 2002, CO2e.com LLC
joined with Mitsui & Co. to expand its services in Asia and the
business continues to grow, the latest addition being the opening of
three offices in India in late 2006.
The joining of two experienced teams means that CantorCO2e starts
with an enviable pedigree. The combined business has been a leader in
environmental markets for the last fifteen years and to date, has
facilitated transactions valued at more than $10 billion. CantorCO2e
has fourteen offices on five continents and will be jointly led by
Steve Drummond (in London) and Josh Margolis (in San Francisco).
Steve Drummond, Managing Director of CantorCO2e said, "The launch
of CantorCO2e reflects the increasing importance of the environment as
central to the allocation of capital and resources globally. We are
delighted to be able to bring our clients around the world better
access to the US markets and to bring new energy to the marketplace."
Josh Margolis, Managing Director of CantorCO2e added, "We will be
able to bring our legacy and broad experience of the US markets to our
global team as we look to develop new opportunities. Whether building
a carbon portfolio or reducing your carbon footprint, business will be
able to benefit from CantorCO2e's global yet local expertise."
About CantorCO2e
CantorCO2e is a leading global provider of financial services to
the world's environmental and energy markets, offering finance,
consultancy, advice, technology and transaction services to clients
engaged in using energy and managing emissions across the world. We
are headquartered in London and San Francisco and have fourteen
offices across five continents. This global yet local presence across
the world, together with the unique experience of our staff, enables
us to provide a level of service that few can match.
CantorCO2e helps people and corporations across the world to
manage the financial aspects of their energy and environmental
choices. In North America and Europe, this means providing brokerage
services to the energy and environmental commodity markets. Elsewhere,
this means bringing expertise, finance and technology to projects that
reduce emissions.
CantorCO2e serves all of the world's principal emissions markets,
including the Kyoto markets (CDM, JI and European emissions trading),
the US compliance markets, and the voluntary carbon market. We help
entities transact via electronic trading screens, recorded telephone
lines, auctions and negotiated contracts. As well as emissions, we
broker traditional energy products, and 'new' energy, such as
renewable energy, ethanol and biodiesel. We advise equity investment
funds on carbon finance, introduce investors to projects, and
structure forward sales to enable project developers to fund their
investments. We help 'clean-tech' technology developers to manage
their intellectual property, to develop their licensing strategies,
and to roll out their technologies through our global network.
CantorCO2e offers an integrated suite of services to bring
environmental commodities to market and to help our clients manage
their energy and environmental risks world-wide.
