Daon, a global leader in identity software and services, today
announced the launch of the world's leading interoperable identity
management system for travelers using biometric data - the Central
Identity Management System (CIMS). CIMS was developed in partnership
with the Transportation Security Clearinghouse (TSC), a wholly-owned
subsidiary of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
The CIMS solution forms the 'hub' of the US Registered Traveler
program, a public/private sector partnership dedicated to deliver
enhanced security and convenience to the US airport community. CIMS is
the first system of its type in the world: a multi-biometric,
standards-based, interoperable identity management system supporting
local airports solutions, but enabling use nationwide. Along with TSA,
over 70 of the nation's airports and 30 technology companies endorsed
and approved the CIMS specification.
"The TSC joins a rapidly growing list of leading organizations and
governments who have selected Daon software as part of their identity
assurance programs. By leveraging Daon's COTS technology and expertise
the CIMS system can properly serve the demanding credentialing
requirements of this national system. We all face increased pressure
to show results and the TSC is thoroughly impressed with Daon's
expertise and performance," according to Carter Morris, AAAE Senior
Vice President.
The CIMS was developed to process millions of enrollments
utilizing DaonEngine(R), a highly flexible and scalable identity
software platform which serves as the backbone for identity assurance
programs around the globe. CIMS also incorporates (through standard
connector products) state-of-the-art technology for LG Iris Technology
Division and Motorola. "CIMS is an excellent application of our core
technology. It clearly demonstrates the power of interoperability in
large-scale biometric deployments. The system empowers Service
Providers to develop flexible, robust, scalable solutions," said Tom
Grissen, CEO of Daon.
The CIMS is responsible for several key functions in the RT
architecture, including processing of all enrollment records,
interfacing with the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) for
background checks and participant vetting, establishment of the chain
of trust throughout the system from vetted enrollments through issued
credentials, and managing the alert process with Service Providers
regarding revoked credentials.
