HOUSTON (Reuters) - The Gulf of Mexico may see intense rapidly-developing hurricanes that appear to pop-up without warning during the 2009 Atlantic Hurricane season, said AccuWeather Chief Hurricane and Long-Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi said on Thursday.
"We're not going to see the long-term classic storms crossing the Atlantic and the Caribbean, like we saw in 2008," Bastardi told Reuters. "We may see rapidly-developing storms like (hurricanes) Humberto and Alicia."
