House passes $825 billion legislation

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives passed an $825 billion economic stimulus bill on Wednesday containing emergency spending and tax cuts that President Barack Obama is seeking.

The measure, which passed the House on a partisan 244 to 188 vote with lawmakers voting along party lines, will next be debated in the Senate, starting probably sometime next week.
