GOMA, Congo (Reuters) - A joint Congolese-Rwandan army force has killed nine Rwandan Hutu rebels in fighting in eastern Congo over the last two days, a Congolese commander of the joint operation said on Saturday.
General John Numbi reported fighting with Rwandan Hutu FDLR rebels in five villages. "On the side of the FDLR, nine elements were killed," he said in a statement on the first clashes since the two countries launched the joint operation this week.
