MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Somalia's president nominated the country's ambassador to the United States, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, on Wednesday to become the next prime minister.
Members of parliament voted the last premier, Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed out of office earlier this month, making him the second man to lose the job in a year. Western donors have warned that the political turmoil could threaten the war-torn nation's fragile recovery.
Parliament must now vote on whether to accept Sharmarke, 54.
