Russia, Egypt seal preliminary arms deal worth $3.5 billion - agency

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia and Egypt reached a preliminary agreement under which Cairo will buy arms worth $3.5 billion (£2.1 billion) from Moscow, Interfax news agency quoted the head of Russia's state arms trade agency as saying on Wednesday.

Speaking in South Africa, the head of the agency, Alexander Fomin, gave no more detail.

Russia is the world's second-largest arms exporter.
