TOKYO (Reuters) - A strong earthquake in northern Japan has injured children and teachers at a daycare centre, and some highways have been closed, Japanese television reported on Saturday.
The shallow quake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0jolted Japan at 8:44 a.m. (12:44 a.m. British time) onSaturday, damaging homes but without any reports so far ofextensive casualties.
