Samsung Electronics finds evidence of suspected child labor at China supplier

SEOUL (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Monday that it has temporarily halted business with a Chinese supplier after finding evidence of suspected child labor.

Samsung Electronics, in a statement posted on its official blog site, said it would permanently end business with Dongguan Shinyang Electronics Co Ltd if the allegations that the firm used child labor are confirmed.

On Thursday, U.S. activist group China Labor Watch released a report alleging that Dongguan Shinyang, a supplier of mobile phone covers and parts, hired child labor for its assembly lines. The watchdog said it found "at least five child workers" without contracts at the supplier.
