KUWAIT (Reuters) - An explosion has hit a petrochemical facility at OPEC member Kuwait's Mina Abdullah port, state new agency KUNA said on Thursday, but it was not clear if oil exports were affected.
KUNA did not say if the incident affected operations atKuwait's second-largest oil refinery, the 270,000 barrel perday Mina Abdullah plant, which is located nearby.
It was not immediately clear what caused the blast.Officials at state refining company KNPC were not immediatelyavailable for comment.
Kuwait is the world's seventh-largest oil exporter. Itplans to boost refining capacity to 1.415 million bpd from930,000 bpd with the new plant, and upgrade its Mina Abdullahand Mina Ahmadi refineries.
