Minor blast damages Greek environment ministry

ATHENS (Reuters) - A small home-made bomb exploded outside a government building in central Athens on Sunday, causing no injuries and minor damage, police said.

The device, made from a clock and an as yet unidentifiedexplosive material, slightly damaged the front of theenvironment and public works ministry building in theAmpelokipi district.

"There was an anonymous call to a newspaper 20 minutesbefore the blast, warning of the pending explosion," theofficial said on condition of anonymity. "Police cordoned offthe area before the device exploded."

He said there was no claim of responsibility yet.

Dozens of fringe groups regularly attack state buildingsand vehicles using home-made devices, mostly using camping gascanisters.

The official said anti-terrorism experts were at the scenesifting through the debris for clues.
