Suicide car bomber kills three in Afghanistan

GHAZNI, Afghanistan (Reuters) - A suicide car bomber targeting an army convoy killed three people on Friday in Afghanistan, witnesses said.

The Afghan army convoy was passing along a road in Ghaznitown which lies southwest of capital Kabul, they said.

Two civilians and one soldier were killed in the attack, which also wounded five more soldiers, they added.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for theblast, but Taliban insurgents have been behind many suchattacks in recent years.

Ousted from power in 2001, the militants largely rely onsuicide bombings against the Afghan government and foreigntroops as part of their insurgency.
