Ten killed in attack on Iraq's provincial council

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Ten people were killed in an attack by gunmen on provincial council headquarters in former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's home city of Tikrit, an official in the local government said Tuesday.

Gunmen used car bombs, explosive belts and hand grenades in the attack as they stormed into the building and held people hostage, the official, who declined to be named, said.
