WELLINGTON (Reuters) - The death toll from the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand's second biggest city was raised to 123 on Saturday.
"We do expect that number to rise through the day," police commander Dave Cliff told reporters.
There was no updated number of missing, previously put at more than 200, but police have said it is likely that the dead make up some of those listed as missing but it will not be known until there has been cross checking.
No further survivors have been found since a woman was rescued mid-afternoon on Wednesday.
