China mudslides kill at least 80, over 2,000 missing

BEIJING (Reuters) - Mudslides that battered a town in northwest China killed at least 80 people on Sunday and more than 2,000 residents are missing, an official told Chinese state television news.

The mudslides hit Zhouqu County in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu province, an area dominated by steep and barren hills, after torrential rains late on Saturday.
