Magnitude 5.8 quake hits southern Iran - USGS

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Iran's Gulf coast on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

It said the quake at 11:08 p.m. local time (8:38 p.m. British time) was very shallow, with a verified epicentre only 6.2 miles (10 km) deep and located 55 miles (85 km) southwest of Lar, close to the SOUTHERN (SO.NY)coast.
