HANDLOVA, Slovakia (Reuters) - Rescuers found six dead bodies and feared 14 other miners were also killed in an explosion in a northern Slovak mine on Monday, Economy Minister Lubomir Jahantek said.
"According to a report from mine rescuers all the 20 miners died," Jahnatek said at the site of the accident in Handlova, about 195 km (120 miles) northeast of the capital Bratislava.
The 20 had been missing since the explosion following a fire on Monday morning but rescue crews could not reach the site, some 330 metres underground at the Handlova mine, for hours due to heat and poor visibility.
