Satyam jumps and Wipro falls as Indian shares drop early


    MUMBAI (Reuters) - Shares in India's Satyam Computer Services jumped more than 60 percent early on Monday after the government appointed a three-man board to restore confidence in the scandal-hit outsourcer.

    But the main BSE index shed more than 1 percent and Wipro fell more than 6 percent after the outsourcer said the World Bank had made the company ineligible for the bank's direct contracts in June 2007.

    By 0437 GMT, the 30-share BSE index was down 1.4 percent at 9,271.25. Satyam was up 49.9 percent at 35.75 rupees, while Wipro was down 5 percent at 238 rupees.
