Stock futures add to gains after jobless claims in line

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stock index futures added to gains on Thursday after U.S. jobless claims were roughly in line with expectations in the latest week, lifting optimism about the state of the anemic economy.

    * The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits fell more than expected last week, moderating from a 26-year high touched the previous week, Labor Department data showed.

    * S&P 500 futures rose 7.00 points and were above fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures climbed 68 points, and Nasdaq 100 futures added 2.25 points.
