Stocks edge higher as oil slips, testimony eyed



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened slightly higher on Tuesday, clawing back from Monday's steep declines, as the price of oil slipped and investors awaited key congressional testimony about the financial sector bailout.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 24.77 points, or 0.22 percent, at 11,040.46. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.24 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,210.33. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 9.99 points, or 0.46 percent, at 2,188.97.
