Williams natgas pipeline in Pennsylvania ruptures, no injuries


    (Reuters) - Williams Cos Inc said Thursday a natural gas pipeline in Pennsylvania ruptured late Wednesday, causing residents in the area to briefly evacuate their homes, but caused no injuries or impact to gas service.

    "There was no fire, no injuries and no impact to natural gas deliveries and receipts," Williams spokesman Chris Stockton said, as other pipes nearby moved the flow of gas through the area to customers.

    He said the rupture occurred in Lycoming County near the town of Unityville in the northeastern part of the state.

    The breach was in a section of the Transco Leidy pipeline, which moves gas from the Leidy area in the north central part of the state to the main Transco pipeline in New Jersey.
